Helicopter SAR Air Operations Management

Introduction

This course is delivered in cooperation with Search and Rescue International (Ltd).

A 3-day workshop designed to give the student an understanding of the operator’s SAR management system specific to the Helicopter SAR environment. The course is presented by instructors with first-hand experience in SAR AOC Management, Regulatory oversight, SAR Operations, Aviation Regulations, ICAO and IAMSAR requirements.

  • SAR Emergency Response Planning
  • SAR Fatigue Risk Management
  • SAR mission Planning, Briefing, Execution and Debriefing

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Identify all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements for the effective conduct of civil Search and Rescue Helicopter Operations.
  • Develop an effective management system to manage the operation in accordance with the above requirements
  • Identify the challenges and mitigate the risks associated with conducting civil SAR helicopter operations.

Who should take this course

  • Current or aspiring Helicopter SAR Air Operator management team personnel, including Accountable Managers, Nominated Persons, Compliance Monitoring Managers and Safety Managers.
  • Regulatory Authority Inspectors with the responsibility of SAR air operator oversight.
  • Government personnel with the responsibility of developing State SAR contracts.

Pre-requisites

  • Proficiency Level 4 (operational) in English is required.
  • Participants are kindly requested to bring a laptop to the workshop to access the materials which will only be provided in electronic format.
